Questions
Does any food actually turn up?
No. Nothing is ordered from any restaurant and no one comes to your door. The restaurants, menus and drivers are made up. The map, the roads and your address are real, which is why it feels the way it does.
Do I pay anything?
No. You order with Payday, a weekly budget of pretend money that tops up every Monday. There is no card on file and no real payment anywhere on Ghosted, in the app or on this site.
So what do I get?
The fun half of takeaway: browsing, choosing, watching the little bike come down your street. And the money. Everything you order counts towards your kept total, which is what you would have spent for real.
Are the restaurants real?
No. Every restaurant is fictional, written and photographed for Ghosted, and placed around your address so the neighbourhood feels like yours. Prices match what takeaway costs where you are.
Where does my address go?
It stays in your browser. To suggest addresses we send what you type to Photon, an OpenStreetMap search service, and to draw the drive we send map coordinates to a public routing server. The privacy policy has the details.
Does it work where I live?
Most likely. Australia, the UK and the US have their own restaurants, and nearly every other country borrows a set, priced in your own money.
What does the app have that the website doesn't?
Drivers you can text on the way, Eat it, Drive with Ghosted, levels and legendary dishes, streaks, scratchies and the full history of everything you kept. The website is a taste.
